There are 3 types of proverbs :

1. Proverbial advice, is a proverb which contains such a suggestion and advices
Example :
Better safe than sorry
Means : You should always be careful, even if you think it’s not necessary.

2. Proverbial parable, is a proverb which makes a thing as a parable
Example :
Lie down with dogs, wake up with flees.
Means : If you associate with bad or dishonest people, bad things will happen to you.

3. Proverbial byword , is a proverb which becomes a byword (semboyan)
Example :
If you snooze, you lose
Means : You have to act fast to get what you want.
